The Edith Locket
Some of the most important places in our lives fit entirely in memory — a backyard pool, a basement TV, a kitchen that always seemed to have lasagna in it. The Edith Locket was made for exactly those kinds of places, and the people who made them home.
There's a particular kind of friendship that doesn't ask for much explaining. The kind where you spent so many afternoons at someone's house that you stopped knocking. Where their mom handed you a plate without being asked, and their basement became a second living room. Where a street name, decades later, still carries the weight of something that shaped you.
Amy J. grew up on Edith Street. And anyone who has ever had an Amy J. in their life — a friend whose family absorbed you, whose home became a refuge, whose Thin Mints and leftover lasagna somehow always tasted better than anything at your own house — knows exactly why this locket needed to be named after the memories made on that street.
The smallest locket with the biggest heart
The Edith is our tiniest closed necklace locket — just one-third of an inch across. And yet, it holds a photo — or two — with remarkable clarity. It comes in gold vermeil, sterling silver, or 14 solid gold. This has become a favorite to many due to its dainty size and everyday look.
We spent a long time on this one. Getting a locket this small to close cleanly, keep your photos private, and still render a crisp image is not a small feat. The Edith does all three. It's the locket for someone who wants to wear their person close without anyone having to know it's there — unless they open it.
Like all of our lockets, The Edith holds one or two photos, secured inside with a protective resin. The locket closes to keep those photos private — a small, personal archive that lives just beneath a collarbone, hidden until you decide to share it.
What photo works best for The Edith?
Because The Edith is our smallest locket, choosing the right photo matters a little more than it does with larger styles. The good news? Once you know what works, it's an easy decision.
The single most important thing to keep in mind is the circle crop. The Edith's round window means your photo will be seen in a circular frame, so images where the subject sits naturally in the center of the shot tend to shine. A close-up portrait — just the face, maybe a little of the shoulders — is the classic choice, and for good reason. It fills the circle beautifully and keeps the focus exactly where it should be.
Candid shots work wonderfully too, especially ones that were taken close up. Think a photo of your person mid-laugh, looking away, or caught in a quiet moment — the kind of shot that actually looks like them, not just a posed version of them. If you have a photo like that, this is where it belongs.
Pet photos are another natural fit. A dog's face, a cat curled up in the sun, a horse looking straight at the camera — animals fill a circle frame in a surprisingly satisfying way, and if your pet is your person, The Edith is an understated, beautiful way to keep them close.
What tends to work less well: wide landscape shots, group photos with more than two or three people, or any image where the important detail is near the edges of the frame. At one-third of an inch, a busy background becomes visual noise. The Edith rewards simplicity — one face, one moment, one person.
For the friend whose street name you'd recognize anywhere, whose family became a little bit yours — this one's for them.
The Edith ships with our Original Chain — a tiny curb chain in the matching metal to The Edith that you choose— and can be swapped for a different design if you have something else in mind.
