"I can hold on to this memory, while my mom holds onto the locket, when her memory no longer allows."

"For my mom. Dementia is a cruel diagnosis. The shock, grief, denial, roller coaster of emotions truly feels like more than one could handle. My mom is early in her disease, which does not mean easier, but this picture, this was a day that we set it aside. While visiting from out of state, I did her make-up (while recording it, of course), and we laughed and joked about my (lack of) ability, and possibly my color choices. We of course had to find the best lighting for a selfie, which I’m so thankful that I have! This day was lighthearted and fun, I can hold on to this memory, while my mom holds onto the locket, when her memory no longer allows."
