Order By Dates for Mother's Day: Keepsake Lockets

Ok listen, we're in the middle of a massive worldwide stay-at-home order and I need to tell you about the upcoming deadlines for Mother's Day locket ordering, but all I can think about is eating Taco Bell. I miss it. I miss it so much. Also, let me clarify that I only eat the bean burritos (hold the cheese), so I feel sort of pretentious about my Taco Bell love. Why am I even telling you this...

QUARANTINE DOES WEIRD THINGS TO A PERSON'S HEAD

Anyway, Mother's Day is coming up, and I know it's like the last thing on anyone's mind right now. We're rightfully far more concerned with the health of our communities, our essential workers and healthcare providers, and wondering when we can get a decent haircut than Mother's Day gifts. I get it. I'm with ya.

It's a both/and. We're both concerned for the world, and Mother's Day will still arrive with bells ringing of encouragement and celebration for the women who offer mothering in all it's forms, which are complex and diverse and beautiful and tragic. Let's talk about some dates you're gonna need to know about and how this whole thing works in case you're thinking you'd like to order a locket for someone else from the comfort of your couch and then have me ship it anywhere. Or maybe you're one of the many women who buys herself a Mother's Day gift too. We've got space in the world for all kinds of people doing things in all kinds of ways. Lockets are inclusive.

But before we get to those details, there's more ground to cover: Maybe this year really sucks. Because the last year was the hardest one you've ever known. Or the year before that. Or before that. The timeline doesn't actually matter. Someone isn't here or hasn't been here. Or you're still waiting for someone to arrive. Mother's Day is complicated and triggering and even when motherhood looks like you want it to look the day can still be a hype-fest full of let downs.

So there's these two things that are true: The first is that Mother's Day can be a really painful day. And the second is that lockets are honestly the best gift to give someone on Mother's Day.

Reconciling those two things won't ever happen. These are irreconcilable differences. Mother's Day can be sucky and lockets are a great gift for Mother's Day. Both true. So instead of pretending it's not true, I'm naming it. I own a locket company that values your stories and experiences and your beautiful, tender souls. I read your stories and swallow them inside me and hold them.

I love to be moved by your humanity. It's what makes me race to my studio every day. Making jewelry and seeing your humanity. These two things are my things, my pulse.

Whatever this Mother's Day will be for you, I hope that you get honored, or get to honor another woman, and that the truth of your own motherhood is recognized for you.

If lockets are on your horizon for Mother's Day this year, know that the ordering deadlines are by Friday, May 1st for US orders (shipping is always free on US orders), and Friday, April 17th for international orders.
